Далекой зимою в царстве снегов,
Где волны застыли у берегов,
В дремлющих чащах, скованных сном,
Чьи ветви иней укрыл серебром,
В треске мороза стонала тайга,
Тогда еще долго не сходили снега,
До сорока ниже нуля,
Замерзла, остыла, продрогла земля.
Сурова зима в этих краях,
В сибирских лесах, алтайских степях,
По рекам, горам, озерам, полям,
Оврагам, равнинам, лесам и холмам,
Везде проходил и оставил свой след,
Лютый мороз, в серебро весь одет
Он был суров, трескуч, непреклонен,
Силе природы абсолютной подобен,
Безликий, незримый, повсюду, везде,
Каймой на ветвях, толщей льда по воде,
Скрипом и стоном, треском и воем,
В чащах тайги не знал он покоя.
Зимним дыханьем, дланью и карой,
Сливался с ветром, метелью кошмарной,
Сибири всю сущность, являя собой,
В безумном танце, далекой зимой…

A distant winter in realm of snow,
Where waves are frozen on shores,
In sleeping thickets, chained by dream,
Whose branches hoar covered with silver ,
In frost crashing, taiga is groan,
Then for a long time the snows did not come off,
Up to forty below zero,
The earth are frozen, cooled down, chilled.
The harsh winter in these lands,
In Siberian woods, Altaic steppes,
On the rivers, the mountains, the lakes, the fields,
The ravines, the plains, the woods and the hills,
